I just did a quick research about lepidoptera in China. You can use Google to find lists including pictures…
Although I am not familiar with Chinese butterflies, I would suggest to go through Nymphalis and Aglais, depending on what most recent nomenclature will be. I guess you will be able to see the upper side as well? Then it should be more easy to identify the species.
